This study had been carried out in collaboration between the Communicable Disease Research Centre, NIHRD with Faculty of Medicine UNSRAT, NAMRU-2 and Local Health Services. The results showed that local transmission occured in Meras/Tuminting village, a coastal area and tingkulu/Teling Atas village, an inland area of Manado. Sporozoid identification by ELISA testing showed that the malaria vectors for he coastal area were An. subpictus and An. barbirostris. Their breeding sites were abandoned fish ponds. While for the inland area, An. parangensis was found positive. This is the first report on An. parangensis as vector for malaria. Further studies on this species should be done such as vector potency and vector bionomics. publisher: Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan Kesehatan date: 1996 type: Article type: NonPeerReviewed format: text language: id identifier: http://www.badankebijakan.kemkes.go.id/repositori/id/eprint/1023/1/335-529-1-PB.pdf identifier: Maroto, Harijani A.
