Repositori BKPKPengaruh Biji Saga Pohon (Adenantera pavonina L) terhadap Fertilitas Tikus Putih Jantan Strain Wistar Derived-LMRRisnawatiAminahauthorTelah diketahui biji saga pohon mengandung saponin yang tergolong dalam kelompok steroid. Selain itu steroid bersifat menghambat spermatogenesis. Tujuan penelitian ini memanfaatkan biji saga pohon selian sebagai bahan makanan juga sebagai bahan anti fertilitas pris. Untuk membuktikan hal tersebut di atas dilakukan penelitian terhadap tikus percobaan. pemberian biji saga pohon secara ad-libitum yang dicampur dalam makanan sebanyak 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% dan diberikan selama 50 hari (satu siklus spermatozoa). Dilakukan pemeriksaan Kromatografi Lapis Tipis (KLP) biji saga, penimbangan berat badan dan jumlah makanan. Setelah itu dilakukan pemeriksaan kualitas sperma dan histologis testis serta hormon androgen. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa: 1. Mengandung 6 komponen kimia yang tergolong dalam saponin (1 komponen), cardenolin & bufadienol (3 komponen) dan antrakinon (2 komponen). 2. Tidak menurunkan berat badan dan nafsu makan ditinjau dari jumlah makanan yang dimakan. 3. Menurunkan kualitas spermatozoa yaitu morfologi spermatozoa, jumlah spermatozoa, motilitas dan viabilitas. 4.
