Faktor-faktor yang diduga mempengaruhi sensitifitas tes ini adalah adanya kompleks imun dan variasi antigen. Untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor tersebut telah dilakukan penelitian hubungan adanya kompleks imun dan strain P. falciparum dari Irian Jaya dan Lampung terhadap imunodiagnosis P.falciparum beradasarkan deteksi HRP-II. Hasil diagnosa P. falciparum berdasarkan deteksi HRP-II memperlihatkan sensitifitas yang sebanding dengan mikroskopis, tetapi spesifisitas tes lebih rendah (88,8%), dimana terdapat 11,2% hasil positip palsu.Walaupun hasil deteksi antigen HRP-II berbeda karena adanya kompleks imun, namun tidak signifikan mempengaruhi sensitifitas imunodiagnosis P.Falciparum berdasarkan deteksi HRP-II.
