TI  - PENGOBATAN SENDIRI YANG SESUAI DENGAN ATURAN PADA IBU-IBU DI JAWA BARAT
N2  - Most of health seeking behavior in the community is the practice of self-medication. The study has two aims; 1). to obtain description of proper self-medication behavior in the  community, 2). To determine factors related to the practice of proper self-medication.       This study was a cross-sectional design at Warungkondang sub-district, Cianjur District, West Java. Data collected from 280 respondents by questinaires in 1998. Respondent were housewives who were not health workers and taking medicine for their symptoms such as fever, headache, common cold and cough during the last 3 weeks before the study.       The  sampling method used was  systematic random sampling. Sampling frame was defined as housewives who bought medicine from surrounding retailer (warung).       The finding of this  study regarding the factors related to the practice of proper self-medication are level of knowlegde and occupation, while description of proper self-medication behavior as follows;a). only 45,0% of respondents practiced proper self-medication, in term of proper classification medicine, proper type of medicine, dosage and duration of medications, b). most  of them  got the informations about over the counter drugs for self-medication from electronic media, c). they perceived the symptoms as a mild helath problem, d). they paid medicine cheaper than fee of helath center, e). they decided to take medicine on their own will (no reference).
