N2 - A serological evaluation was conducted to assess the hepatitis B (HB) vaccination effectiveness among children with age 1-2 years of age in Sumedang regency. Blood samples for antibody determination were obtained from 239 infants from Situ, Cimalaka and South Sumedang Districts. The results that the HbsAg prevalence among infants in the study areas was 1.7% and the proportion of infants with negative titer was 5.5%. Most (55%) infants were immunized at age 1 month and 29% of the infants received the immunization between ages 0-7 days. The percentage of infants who development protective HB antibody from the three districts was 91.58% with mean geometric titer of 68,1653 mIU/ml. The highest percentage of infants with protective antibody level was in Cimalaka district, i.e. 96,25%. The results of immunization coverage of three HB doses in Sumedang district in 1999 and 2000 were 91.75% and 91.29% respectively. This study concluded that the percentage of protected infants post immunization with three doses of HB in Sumedang regency has not changed significantly in comparison with immunization coverage that was reported in 1999 and 2000.
