Self medication or going to the health facilities is a choice of handling illnesses. The objective of this study is to identify the pattern of health seeking behavior which is very important for decision makers to determine better health policies. Variables of morbidity, out-patients, in-patients, types of health facilities, household economic status, source of health financing, health services satisfaction, health seeking behavior, and demographic as well as socio- economic characteristics of Susenas 2001 was analyzed. Descriptive analysis with tables and charts will help understanding the information presented, followed by narrative analysis based on the facts and related reference. The results showed that more than 50% of people suffered from health problems did self medications and or seek for out-patient services while less than 5% of people in Indonesia had been treated at in-patient health service facilities. The health seeking behavior of Indonesian in 27 provinces varied and presented in details. Most people still utilize government health service facilities because of cheap and short distance; eventhough many of them were not satisfied with the services. Interpretation from this analysis should be made with caution due to limitation of data collection.
