This analysis was separated in six regions: Nusa Tenggara & Papua, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Java, Sumatera and Bali. The analysis showed that during 1996-2000 there was slightly increasing proportion of delivery by health workers in rural and urban area. The Indonesian target of birth delivery attended by health worker in 2000 was 80%. The target was achieved in all urban areas of the six regions and in rural area of Bali, but not in the rural areas of the other 5 regions. There was a large discrepancy between rural and urban areas. The largest discrepancy was 46% in the region of Nusa Tenggara & Papua, followed by Sulawesi (41%), Kalimantan (41%), Java (35%), Sumatera (32.5%) and Bali (14%). This findings indicate that in rural area an intensive intervention especially in birth delivery by health workers is still needed. %A Agus Suprapto %A Dwi Hapsari %A L. C. Jermawan
