Freeport Indoensia in decreasing the MMR in Mimika Distrcit seem to meet many hindrances. According to a Quick Survey MMR of Papua in 2001. MMR in Mimika District is about 1.100 per 100.000 livebirths that is much higher from the number found by several national surveys before. This research wants to see the cultural obstacle, how far the tradition being a background of pregnant and post-childbirth mothers activities and bringing the bad effects for mothers'health. Data collection of this research is conducted quantitatively and qualitatively. This research found some tradions convering their daily activities that shows the unfair and disadvatages to women's health. For exsample; the tradition suggest or allow pregnant women looking for food to the jungle till time for child birth, 1 week after childbirth women could leave their babies or bring their babies to the jungle, women just be allowed to do first taking a bath 1-2 weeks after childbirth in ritual ceremonial, women must be ready to serve husband's sexual intercourse after the first taking bath.
