Good early nutrition, both during fetal and early childhood, has short and long term consequences across the life course. The main cause of malnutrition is lack of nutrients intake. Deficiency of nutrient intake can be lack of access from food or other reasons. Well nourished child is an important factor for optimal economic development. Objective. To study nutritional status and nutrient consumption amongs under 3 years of age. Methods. The study was conducted in District of Sragen, Central Jawa and District of Karawang, West Jawa. Respondents were households with children of under 3 years of age. There were 1500 households as respondent of this study. Data collections include anthropometric measurements: weight and lengthlheight and nutrients consumption using 24 hours recall method. Descriptive data analysis was to explain and compare the nutritional status and nutrients intake. Results. Among under 3 years of age, percentage of underweight in Karawang (25.7%) was higher than in Sragen (22.4%). Also, percentage of stunted in Karawang (42.3%) was higher than in Sragen (31.5%). However, percentage of wasted was very low in both Karawang (0.2%) and Sragen (0.1%). Consumption or intake of energy in Karawang was higher than in Sragen but only around 60% of the recommended dietary intake (RDI). Intake of protein in Karawang was lower than in Sragen but only around 80% of the RDL Intake of vitamin A was far below the RDI in both Karawang (J 0%) and Sragen (19.5%). Intake of iron was low in Karawang i.e. 58.7 of RDI but high in Sragen i.e. 94.7% of RDL Intake of zinc was far below the RDI both in Karawang (25.9%) and in Sragen (29.6%) Conclusions. Percentage of underweight was high (>20%). Similarly, percentage of stunted was also high (>30%). In contrast, percentage of wasted was very low <5%). These situation confirmed with their nutrients consumption. Intake of energy and protein were 60% and 80% of the RDI respectively. Similarly, intake of micro nutrients: vitamin A, iron and zinc was also low</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">WS 113-141 Child Care. Nutrition.
