As present, this species is known to be resistant to several insecticides, causing problems in the control of the disease. To gain knowledge on insecticide resistance mechanism may help to solve the problems of insecticide resistance of the vector in the future. Chemical insecticides have been widely used in Depok city for several years to mosquitoes control. Malathion was employed as the main insecticide for DHF vector control until pyrethroids were introduced in decade 1990. This exposes mosquito populations to an intense selection pressure can result resistance to insecticides. To determine the extent of this resistance, the susceptibility of Ae. aegypti from endemic area in Depok city to malathion was evaluated. Biochemical and susceptibility test to determine the susceptibility of Ae. aegypti to malathion had been conducted from Depok city. The technique standardized by the World Health Organization for tests with insecticides was used. The objectives of this study were to determine the susceptibility status of Ae. aegypti from Depok city by susceptibility test and biochemical assays. The susceptibility of Ae. aegypti to malathion was evaluated by means of samples of eggs and larvae from endemic area in Depok city were collected at 2005 periode. Biochemical and susceptibility test indicated that population of Ae. aegypti collected from Depok city was susceptible. Therefore the use of malathion insecticide for DHF vector control was suggested.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">WC 500-590 Virus Diseases</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8601">2009</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan Kesehatan</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Article</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_1303"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_1303_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
