They are ssRNA virus which are consist of several subtypes that belong to Bunyaviridae family and Hantavirus genus. Two clinical manifestations that caused by Hantavirus infection in human are. First, which is known as Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), that caused by Hantaan virus (HTNV). Dobrava, Puumala dan Seoul (SEOV) subtypes and apodemus agrarius as reservoir. Second Hemorrhagic fever pulmonary syndrome (HPS) which are Sin Nombre (SNV). Bayou virus (BAY). Black Canal (BCC) dan New York virus (NY) subtypes as the causative agents and used Peromyscus maniculatus as reservoir. Serological study among rodents and human population in several sea port cities in Indonesia indicated that hantavirus antibodies prevalence are rodents species specific and range between 7,9%-40,3%.
