Salah satu upaya untuk mencegah infeksi tersebut adalah imunisasi Hepatitis B yang diberikan sedini mungkin. Imunisasi Hepatitis B mulai diintegrasikan ke dalam Program Imunisasi Nasional sejak tahun 1997 dan hasil cakupan imunisasi tahun 1998/1999 menunjukkan HB1 78,8%, HB2 63,7% dan HB3 71,7%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keberhasilan program imunisasi HB dengan jadwal imunisasi yang berbeda yaitu 0-2-3 dan 2-3-4 ; mengetahui daya lindung vaksin Hepatitis B pasca imunisasi lengkap pada anak umur 1-2 tahun dan mengetahui kemungkinan ditemukannya infeksi vertikal dari ibu kepada anak dengan HB1 di atas 2 bulan. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan di Kabupaten Sumedang. Sampel terdiri dari anak sehat umur 1-2 tahun yang telah mendapat imunisasi HB tiga dosis. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 240 anak yang terdiri dari dua kelompok yaitu anak dengan jadwal imunisasi HB1 pada 0 bulan dan 2 bulan.
