Tes ini menunjukkan spesifisitas yang tinggi jika antigen yang digunakan dalam keadaan murni.      Dalam penelitian ini telah dilakukan tes imunodiagnostik dengan EITB menggunakan antigen kista (cysticercus) yang dipisahkan menurut bagian : protoscolex, membran, dan cairan selanjutnya dipurifikasi dengan sentrifugasi ultra.      Dengan metode EITB ketiga "subantigen ketiga" tersebut direaksikan dengan antibodi yang terdapat dalam serum penderita cysticercosis yang dikelompokan menurut cystecercosi, neurosysticercosis, dan taeniasis, sampel serum yang terkumpul sebanyak sebanyak 50 orang termasuk kontrol negatif.      Hasil yang didapat memperlihatkan bahwa secara umum pita 14 KD, 36 KD, dan 42 KD dikenal oleh antibodi cysticercosis. Antigen protoscolex mempunyai spesifisitas lebih baik diantara antigen membran dan cairan.
