Mikrokapsul tersebut mengandung zat besi 7.2 persen dan sebagai kontrol digunakan senyawa ferosulfat.       Pada awal masa depletion, tikus percobaan yang telah berumur 4 minggu diberi ransum rendah zat besi (sekitar 10 ppm) selama 14 hari, setelah tius-tikus memasuki masa repletion diberi ransum mengandung kadar zat besi tinggi (54 ppm) yang berasal dari mikrokapsul zat besi atau ferosulfat. Tikus yang diberi ransum rendah zat besi menunjukkan kadar hemoglobin sekitar 11.4 g/dl. Sedangkan setelah diberikan ransum dengan kadar zat besi tinggi kadar hemoglobinnya meningkat menjadi sekitar 15.13 g/dl - 15.43 g/dl.       Dengan demikian nilai ketersediaan biologisnya yang dinyatakan dalam Relative Biological Value sebesar 109.
