The main objective of this study was to learn the relationship between knowledge, attitude, practice, and characteristics (especially education and family income status) on refraction disorders among mothers of elementary student grade 6. Source of the data was from a research ?Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice of Elementary Student?s Mothers on Refraction Disorders? conducted by Syaiful Anwar, et al with sample size 57 women at Kemayoran, Krembangan subdistrict, Surabaya in 2005. The unit was analysis mothers of elementary student from grade 6 as mentioned above. The analysis methods included descriptive statistics aimed to describe the knowledge, attitude, practice on refraction disorders, education and family income, and inferential statistics (correlation) to determine the relationship of those variables. The results of this study showed that knowledge of elementary student?s mothers were 60% know, attitude was 50% confirmely agreed, practice was 85.8% knowing what to do on refraction disorders. All of those variables had weak correlations (coefficient of correlation less than 0.5) but significantly associated on α = 0.05. In order to enhance knowledge of the elementary students? mothers, and their attitude, it?s necessary to provide health education on refraction disorders among elementary student?s mothers. This research suggests that it is necessary to conduct a larger research regarding this condition using more elementary schools and a larger sample size, so that parents wish to have brilliant achievement of their children could be realized.WW 300-340 Refraction.
