Ciliwung, S. Sunter dan S. Krukut di wilayah DKI Jakarta dilakukan dalam periode musim kemarau bulan Agustus 1987 dan musim hujan bulan Pebruari 1988. Tujuan penelitian adalah mempelajari kualitas air sungai yang digunakan sebagai air baku air minum penduduk wilayah DKI Jakarta. Lokasi pengambilan sampel berada di bagian hulu, intake pengolahan air minum PAM dan muara masing-masing sungai. Pada setiap lokasi diambil sampel air secara komposit dan organisme air untuk pengukuran parameter fisik, kimia dan biologis. Parameter-parameter yang diperiksa dan diukur termasuk suhu, oksigen terlarut (DO), kekeruhan (turbidity), PH, nitrat, fosfat, koli tinja, total padatan, BOD, klorofil-a, fitoplankton, perifiton, bentos dan ikan.
