Di samping itu adanya beberapa strain falciparum yang selama ini dibedakan secara geografis (menurut tempatnya), juga diduga berbeda secara genetis. Dalam penelitian ini ingin diketahui apakah zat antimalaria pada penduduk di beberapa daerah yang beragam endemisitasnya dapat mengenali/bereaksi dengan komponen-komponen antigen P. falciparum tertentu, dalam hal ini strain Irian. Antigen didapat dari kultur P. falciparum secara invitro sesuai tehnik "Trager & Jensen", kemudian komponen-komponennya dipisah-pisahkan dengan tehnik "Westren Blot". Komponen-komponen antigen tersebut direaksikan dengan serum positif dari penduduk daerah endemis tersebut. Apabila timbul pita-pita berwarna coklat, berarti reaksi positif. Hal ini dapat dikatakan bahwa zat anti pada penduduk di daerah endemis dapat mengenali/bereaksi dengan antigen tertentu tersebut (strain Irian). Hasil biakan P. falciparum untuk pembuatan antigen adalah dari 9 kali panen (setiap panen rata-rata34 plate), menghasilkan antigen yang mempunyai kadar protein rata-rata 6,13 mg/ml dengan tingkat parasitemia 5-20% setiap panen. Dari 370 sampel yang diperiksa 27% (100/370) sampel mengandung zat anti malaria (imunoglobulin G) yaitu bengkulu 30,2% (55/182), Flores 25,7% (29/113) dan Kaltim 21,3% (16/75).
