Perkembangan resistensi kuman terhadap antibiotik perlu dipantau agar dalam pengobatan penyakit diare dengan antibiotik dapat dilakukan pemilihan antibiotik secara tepat.  Untuk menambah informasi tentang pola resistensi kuman-kuman penyebab diare terhadap Salmonella, Shigella &amp; Vibrio Cholera yang diperoleh dari penderita diare terhadap antibiotik Chloramphenicol, Ampisilin, Tetrasiclin, Kenamisin &amp; Kontrimoxazol. Uji resistensi dilakukan secara Disk Diffusion Methods (Kirby Baner,1996).  Hasil  penelitian menunjukkan, Shigella masih sensitif terhadap kontrimoxazol (SXT); Namun terhadap antibiotik alternatip Ampisilin (Amp) menunjukkan tingkat resistensi sebesar 50% Salmonella menunjukkan tingkat resistensi sebesar 42% terhadap Ampisilin, 57% terhadap Chlorophenicol &amp; 71% terhadap kontrimoxazol.
