Upaya pengendalian filariasis masih terbatas pada pengobatan penderita dan mencegah infeksi sekunder, sedangkan pengendalian terhadap nyamuknya belum optimal. Teknik Serangga Mandul (TSM) merupakan cara pengendalian vektor yang ramah lingkungan, efektif, dan potensial.&#13;
Metode: Desain penelitian adalah quasi eksperimental dengan rancangan pre postest control group design. Lokasi penelitian di Kelurahan Padukuhan Kraton, Kecamatan Pekalongan Utara, Kota Pekalongan. Teknik Serangga Mandul dilakukan dengan melakukan iradiasi terhadap nyamuk jantan di laboratorium (BATAN) dengan dosis (0 Gy, 60 Gy, 65 Gy, 70 Gy, 75 Gy dan 80 Gy). Nyamuk jantan yang terpapar iradiasi dilakukan pengujian kemandulan, daya tahan hidup. daya saing kawin dan jarak terbang.&#13;
Hasil: Nyamuk jantan Culex quinquefasciatus yang berasal dari Laboratorium Entomologi Balai Litbang P2B2 Banjamegara pasca iradiasi dosis 60 Gy, 65 Gy, 70 Gy, 75 Gy dan 80 Gy diperoleh angka sterilitas tinggi yaitu antara 95,35 % sampai 98,53 % yang artinya peluang untuk berkembang biak hanya 1,5 % sd 4,5 %. Umur nyamuk pasca iradiasi tanpa dikawinkan rata-rata mencapai 35 hari, daya saing kawin skala laboratorium hampir mendekati normal (0,7-0,8), daya saing kawin skala semi lapangan lebih rendah dibanding nyamuk normal (0,04-0,2), jarak terbang nyamuk hanya tertangkap pada radius 100 m. Kesimpulan:&#13;
Pemanfaatan radiasi sinar gamma untuk memandulkan Culex quinquefasciatus efektif pada dosis 70 Gy dan bisa dilakukan dengan untuk intervensi pengendalian Culex quinquefasciatus pada lingkup yang terbatas.&#13;
