Spesimen serum dikirim dari RSUD Deli Serdang, RSUD Balikpapan, RSUD Wonosari, RSUD Bitung, RSUD Haulussy Ambon dan RSU Prov. NTB di Mataram. Spesimen dengan volum mencukupi diidentifikasi serotipe virus menggunakan metode RT-PCR. Sampel positif dilanjutkan dengan deteksi genotipe virus berdasarkan gen selubung virus menggunakan primer spesifik. Hasil Pemeriksaan sekuensing dianalisis dengan perangkat lunak MEGA 6 untuk membuat pohon filogenetik guna pengelompokkan genotipe berdasarkan gen referens. Enam ratus lima puluh lima spesimen memenuhi syarat untuk dilakukan pemeriksaan, dari 687 spesimen terkumpul. Sebanyak 50,7 % diantaranya positif. Jumlah paling banyak adalah virus dengue serotipe 3 (DENV-3), yaitu 52 % dari keempat serotipe. Sementara DENV-2, DENV-1 dan DENV-4 masing-masing 21, 18 dan 9%. Hasil pemeriksaan genetik menunjukan DENV-1 termasuk ke dalam kelompok genotipe I. Sementara DENV-4 belum berhasil diidentifikasi genotipe pada penelitian ini. Selain itu, 6 spesimen positif virus chikungunya dari 410 spesimen yang dideteksi. Lima spesimen berasal dari Ambon dan 1 spesimen berasal dari Deli Serdang.
