Agar upaya ini mempunyai daya guna maksimal, perlu didukung oleh data penunjang yang menerangkan tentang seluk beluk vektor yang berperan. Untuk menentukan metode pemberantasan yang tepat guna perlu diketahui dengan pasti musim penularan serta perilaku vektor yang bersangkutan. Penentuan musim penularan yang tepat perlu didukung oleh data entomologi yang baik dan benar. Begitu pula metode yang dipilih akan efektif apabila ada kecocokan antara metode yang dipilih dengan perilaku vektor yang menjadi sasaran.
