Repositori BKPKReport The 2008 Follow-Up Survey For WFP's Nutrition Rehabilitation Programme (NRP) In Nusa Tenggara Barat & Nusa Tenggara TimurDwiSusilowatiauthorThis survey is a follow-on to the Nutrition Rehabilitattion Programme (NRP) Follow-on 1 survey conducted by WFP counterpart in 2007 in Madura. Lombok and West Timor. It aims to measure the change in the micronutrient status, incidence of some common diseases (Acute Respiratory Infection - ARI, fever, diarrhea), nutrition1 health related knowledge and behaviors (KAP) of the programme beneficiaries, including children aged 12-59 months (their mothers for KAP), primary school children, pregnant and lactating women during the first six months of lactation. The survey was carried out from October 2008 - January 2009 by NIHRD, Health Department in collaboration with local authorities and health institutions of the surveyed regions. Primary data collection took place in November 2008 included interviews using structured pre-tested questionnaires, biochemical measurement (Hb concentration), health examinations, parasitologic examination and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The survey adopted a cross- sectional Wsufvey study design with survey populations of primary school students. 12-59 months children, pregnant and lactating women (PLW) in six targeted districts of Lombok Barat, Lombok Tengah, Lombok Timur (Lombok, Nusa Tengara Barat), Kupang, Belu and Timor Tengah Selatan (West Timor. Nusa Tenggera Timur). The 30-cluster sampling method, following the Proportional Probability to Size (PPS) technique was used in the survey. Those 30 clusters were selected from NTB and NlT provinces. A total of 90 under-fives aged 12-59 months, their mother/caregivers (302 persons), pregnant mothers (305 persons) and lactating mothers (290 persons), students (692 persons) were assessed on anemia and KAP and 373 students on STH. Some groups were involved in Focus Groups Discussions that consisted of midwifes, cadres, teachers, parents, etc. Those respondents were randomly selected from 30 clusters. The survey findings show that the majority of female respondents are housewives. The head of households, were mostly males, they worked as unskilled agricultural wage labors and by selling agricultural products. Education of parents were generally low, about one fifth were illiterate, about one third finished elementary school, about a half of them finished junior and senior high school. More than 90% of the respondents lived in single housing, but the quality of their housing varies, less than a half of the housing were made from permanent construction, while the others were made from semi permanent or non permanent materials. The majority of the households used latrine for their needs. Practically they had a relatively safe water source such as protected well. spring water and tap water.
