Dalam kaitan itu pengetahuan mengenai pengadaan bahan, farmakognosi, keamanan, metoda isolasi zat pemanis dan lain-lainnya sangat diperlukan. Untuk itu dilakukan penelitian pemanfaatan tanaman Stevia rebaudiana Bertonii M dengan meneliti budidaya tanamannya, pengolahan lepas panen serta isolasi zat pemanis termasuk identifikasi bahan dan hasil isolasi penetapan rasa dan daya racun akut serta daya racun subkronik.
