Tanaman ini terdapat di Indonesia. Mengingat kegunaannya dalam dunia pengobatan cukup besar, maka perlu diadakan penelitian terhadap tanaman tersebut. Telah dilakukan penelitian identifikasi farmakognosi terhadap kayu dan daunnya, meliputi percobaan makroskopis dan mikroskopis, penetapan kadar air, kadar minyak serta percobaan golongan kandungan kimia yang mempunyai arti biologis. Disamping data-data makroskopis dan mikroskopis yang diperoleh penelitian memberi hasil : pada kayu daun mengandung golongan kandungan kimia saponis, glykosida digitalnol, flavonoida dan poliphenol.
