Mengetahui patogenisitas B. sphaericus terhadap jentik An. macula/us di laboratorium, 2). Mengetahui pengaruh dosis sub lethal B. sphaericus terhadap stadium dewasa An. maculatus di laboratorium, yang meliputi persen pupasi, persen kemunculan pupa menjadi nyamuk, fekunditas, persen telur menetas, dan rentang umur nyamuk, dan 3). Mengetahui persentase penurunan kepadatan jentik An. maculatus di kobakan sungai di Kecamatan Loano dan Bagelen, Kabupaten Purworejo. Penelitian dimulai pada bulan Pebruari-Nopember 2003 dan dilaksanakan dalam 3 tahap yaitu penelitian di laboratorium BPVRP Salatiga yang meliputi uji hayati pengujian B. sphaericus terhadap jentik An. maculatus di laboratorium dan pengaruh dosis sub lethal B. sphaericus terhadap stadium dewasa An. macula/us di laboratorium, serta pengujian B. sphaericus terhadap jentik An. macula/us di lapangan ( di kobakan sungai di Kecamatan Loano dan Bagelen, Kabupaten Purworejo ). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengujian secara hayati B. sphaericus (V ectolex WDG) di laboratorium selama 24 jam menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi 0,0082 ppm dan 0,0301 ppm mampu membunuhjentik An. maculatus sebesar masing-masing 500/o dan 95%, sedangkan pada pengujian selama 48 jam dibutuhkan konsentrasi sebesar 0,0276 ppm dan 0,0689 ppm. Dosis sub lethal (0,02 ppm) B. sphaericus (Vectolex WDG) tidak berpengaruh pada stadium dewasa An. maculatus khususnya terhadap persen pupasi, persen munculnya nyamuk dewasa, fekunditas, persen telur menetas, dan rentang umur. Eftkasi B. sphaericus (Vectolex WDG) pada dosis 500 g!Ha dan 1 OOOg!Ha efektif menurunkan kepadatan populasi jentik An. maculatus di kobakan sungai lebih dari 70 % selama 21 hari.QX 500-675 Insects.
