Konsensus lnternasional yang dikeluarkan oleh Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) mendefinisikan asma sebagai suatu inflamasi kronik saluran nafas dengan berbagai saluran inflamasi yang memegang peranan, terutama sel mast, eosinofil dan limfosit lnjlamasi saluran nafas int dapat dinilai secara langsung dengan mengukur jumlah eosinofil dan eosinophyllic cationic protein (ECP) atau secara tidak langsung dengan mengukur eosinofil darah. Jumlah eosinofil sputum dan darah meningkat dan sering berhubungan dengan beratnya derajat asma. Tujuan. Untuk mengetahui hubungan (korelasi) antara jumlah eosinofil darah dan faal paru (VEP1 = Volume Ekspirasi Paksa detik I) penderita asma. Metodologi. Penelitian cross sectional, pasien rawat jalan di BP4 Surakarta pada bulan Agustus -- Oktober 2005. Subyek penelitian penderita asma tidak dalam serangan, usia 13 - 60 tahun. Pengambilan sampel dengan cara Consecutive (QUOTA) sampling, diperoleh 62 sampel. Hasil Nilai korelasi antara VEP1 dengan eosinofil darah pada Asma Persisten Ringan(APR) r=0, 043, p=0,900, Asma Persisten Sedang (APS) r=-0,036, p=0,849, Asma Persisten Berat (APB ) r=0,333, p=0,151 dan pada total sampel r=0,033, p=0,797, Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak ada hubungan antara jumlah eosinofl darah dan faal paru penderita asma.WF Respiratory System2006Sekretariat Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan KesehatanArticle
