NorauthorObservation of the antibiotics use in the hospital had been carried out, in order to study the rational use of the usage. based on the WHO's prescribing indicators. All of the drugs prescribed in the patient medication records were collected, then, they were analysed according to the percentage of antibiotics use, the most frequently antibiotics prescribed, percentage of prescribing in the generic name, dosage forms, and listed in the fonnularium. The results show that antibiotics were prescribed in 22.38%, the most frequently prescribed was beta lactam derivatives in 78.32%, 22.38% of them written down as Rocephin, followed bv Augmentin (13.88%). Injection dosage *firms was found in 77.38%, antibiotics written down as patent narne were 88.77% whilst in generic name were only 11.25%. On the other hand, all of the antibiotics were listed in the formularilll?l of the hospital. Based on the data, it can be concluded that the antibiotics used in the hospital can be considered rational, the use of injection dosage forms and drugs in the patent ncune were relatively high, but was based on strong reasons.QV Pharmacology2007-03Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan KesehatanArticle
