Children in third grade of elementary school participated in the study. Weischler Intelligent Scale for Children (WISC) method was applied to exercise an child Intelligent Quotient (IQ) while neuropsychomotor symptoms (disphasia, discalculia, disgraphia) are used to identify mental defect. The symptoms are evidently associated with neuro development; on the other hand cretinism has relationship with neuro development delay in the brain due to iodine deficiency. Based on logistic regression, the study revealed that disphasia, discalculia, disgraphia correlated with cretinism. Odd Ratio for disphasia, discalculia, disgraphia is 13.3; 13.2 and 18.1 respectively. However, composite of the three neuropsychomotor symptoms failed to indicate the relationship. We recommended that one can identify cretinism in a school age child when at least two of the three symptoms appear in the child.
