Jakarta– Representatives from World Health Organization (WHO) and IQLS visited the Center for Health Resilience System Policy and Health Resources (Pusjak SKK-SDK) of the Health Development Policy Agency on Monday (10/7). This visit was conducted in order to assessment (diagnostic assessment) on the availability of in vitro diagnostics in ASEAN member countries. Prof. dr. Sri Oemijati Pusjak SKK-SDK Laboratory is one of 6 health facilities in Indonesia that were assessed.
In 2018, WHO published the first edition Model List of Essential In Vitro Diagnostics (EDL). Two further editions were published in 2019 and 2021. WHO EDL aims to ensure the availability of testing for universal health coverage (UHC) and health emergencies and to promote healthier populations, the three strategic priorities of WHO’s Thirteenth General Programme of Work (2019–2023).
Since the first edition of the EDL, WHO has encouraged its Member States to develop national essential in vitro diagnostics lists (NEDLs) based on the WHO EDL model. The EDL Secretariat, in collaboration with the WHO South-East Asia Regional Office (SEARO) and the Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO), initiated a new targeted project to assist selected ASEAN countries in the region to develop NEDLs. Integrated Quality Laboratory Services (IQLS) is the implementing contractor for WHO for this project.
The results of this assessment will later be compiled into a report which will be submitted to stakeholders (stakeholders). The strategy document will also be developed along with plans and priorities in accordance with the results of the previously observed gaps. (Author Kurniatun K/Edit Timker KLI)
