Jakarta – At the 2026 Economic Census (SE) Socialization event organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) and the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS), a talk show session discussed the 2026 Economic Census Questionnaire Guidelines on Thursday (June 11). The session featured Budi Setiawan, Director of Public Welfare Statistics (Kesra), and was moderated by the Head of the Center for Health Resource System Policy at the Health Development Policy Agency.
The event involved associations and healthcare sector business actors, relevant ministries/institutions, the Ministry of Health's vertical hospitals, state-owned and private enterprises, community health centers (Puskesmas), and other relevant stakeholders. The outreach aimed to foster active participation and provide a comprehensive picture of Indonesia's economic structure.
Budi explained that the 2026 SE census aims to provide baseline data on all economic activities in Indonesia, which will serve as a key pillar for the government in formulating national development policies and planning. In this census, BPS expanded its scope by recording data on all economic sectors without exception, including integrating agriculture, fisheries, forestry, and health, as well as responding to the growth of the digital and green economies. In his presentation, Budi Setiawan emphasized the importance of collaboration from all parties.
"This economic census doesn't belong to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), but to all of us. Therefore, we need everyone's contribution to ensure the success of the 2026 Economic Census, ensuring accurate data, a resilient economy, and a progressive Indonesia," said Budi.
Regarding the implementation mechanism, the 2026 SE data collection will be divided into two main phases. The first phase will be implemented in June 2026. During this phase, BPS will independently distribute the link via SMS. WhatsApp or email to large and medium business actors to be filled in via the system Computer-Assisted Web Interviewing (CAWI)
Meanwhile, the second phase will take place from June 15 to August 31, 2026 using the method door-to-door or in-person visits. BPS field officers will visit Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and large businesses that have not responded in the first phase. This field data collection will utilize digital technology based on mobile applications (Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing/CAPI) and paper instruments (Paper-Assisted Personal Interviewing/PAPI) for remote areas that have difficulty with internet signal. Budi also reminded the public that official BPS officers who go into the field will always be equipped with special vests, identification badges (name tags), and official letter of assignment
Responding to concerns about the company's data security, Budi confirmed that BPS has collaborated with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) to implement an encryption system to protect data during collection and processing.
"Don't worry about providing accurate data. The data you provide is guaranteed confidentiality by law and has nothing to do with taxation," Budi reassured the participants.
He further explained that the publication of the census results will ultimately only be presented to the public in aggregate or sectoral statistics (per KBLI), not detailed data on specific individuals or companies. Therefore, BPS expects the public to provide honest and truthful data, as accurate data today is the foundation for determining the accuracy of future policies.
